in a photovoltaic, intelligent greenhouse in the town of zhenbeibu, xixia district, yinchuan, rows of chili peppers and cabbages are thriving. through the photovoltaic power generation, its staff can integrate intelligent control for watering, fertilizing, spraying and temperature control through a mobile phone. this time-saving result is achieved through the "wind-solar complementary intelligent water-saving irrigation technology" developed by professor sun zhaojun's team at ningxia university. it revolves around underground seepage irrigation technology, combining underground seepage irrigation pipes with wind and solar-powered water pumping equipment, as well as the mobile intelligent control devices to form an intelligent water-conserving irrigation system.

thanks to the technology transfer platform established in ningxia, this technology is now widely used in several arab countries, such as oman, egypt and qatar. during the 2022 qatar world cup, this technology provided strong technical support for greening projects like the world cup football field grass.
tackling the drought and desertification issue is just a microcosm of the joint cooperation to global challenges between china and arab countries. ningxia has released 760 advanced and applicable technologies to arab countries, facilitating the signing of more than 90 science and technology cooperation agreements.
cultural exchanges promote mutual understanding
in june, 23 media representatives from five arab countries conducted an in-depth tour in ningxia, focusing on the aspects of ecological construction, poverty alleviation and media integration.
in recent years, similar china-arab exchange activities have often been held in ningxia, becoming an important platform for mutual understanding between china and arab countries and mutual learning of civilizations.
meanwhile, people learning the chinese language has become a trend in arab countries such as the uae and saudi arabia. companies in ningxia have seized this business opportunity and promptly developed an "intelligent chinese learning" course system.
according to li shaoxian, dean of the china-arab countries research institute at ningxia university, among the 22 arab countries, four have now included chinese language instruction in their national education systems or have established chinese departments; 13 countries have established 20 confucius institutes, and two have independent confucius classrooms.
